Children living in disadvantaged communities need books, educational materials, remote volunteers that can help them on-line, or by phone, and so many other essential resources.

Any level of contribution can help, no matter how large or small. Our programs are nationwide, or you can request you funding help a specific region in the sections asking for any additional instructions.

We have over 20 years of experience helping at-risk, under-served children learn to read. One of the favorite programs for both children and adults is our remote volunteer reading tutoring/mentoring program. Students can click on a link on their computers and remote volunteers click on the same link. They instantly see the same book on their computer screens and communicate through their computer's microphones and speakers. We also have a telephone and paper book options for children that do not have Internet access or a computer. The children love reading with their remote tutors/mentors, the remote reading tutors/mentors love the ability to help without leaving their homes or offices, and teachers love that most students gain two years of academic progress in one school year.

We also improve local economies. Research studies have found that for every one percent gain in reading scores at a school, the local economy improves by a equivalent percentage.

When schools improve reading scores by 12%, high school graduation rates improve by 10% and crime drops by 20%.

The opioid epidemic has significantly impacted communities across the nation. The community risks for opioid overdoses is highly correlated to education. Improving the reading scores and helping children gain the foundational skills necessary to graduate from college reduces the risks of opioid overdoses by 93%. There is no existing treatment program that is more effective than preventing the problem by helping children learn to read.

Education levels are highly correlated to obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and may other health risks. Increasing the reading proficiency levels helps reduce the levels of obesity by a factor of three to four times.

Our national security is currently at risk due to the low reading proficiency levels of children across the nation. The "Mission Readiness" organization consists of the top 300 retired military generals, admirals, and other senior military officers. Their top concern for national security is early childhood reading. Last year was the first time in recent history that our military organizations could not recruit sufficient numbers of military candidates to replace the number of troops retiring from military service. Over 71% of all candidates ages 17-24 were ineligible for military service. They could not pass a simple reading and math test, or had other disqualifying issue from the list of problems correlated to reading that were mentioned above.

We also keep our older adults healthy. Researchers have found that when older adults volunteer, it problems caused by senior social isolation. Senior social isolation has health risks that are even worse than smoking 15 cigarettes a day. The risks for a heart attack is also 4 times higher. The remote volunteer reading tutoring/mentoring program solves this problem. Our senior volunteers tell us they are having fun and they consider it the best part of their day.

We help children learn to read, but we also solve ALL problems facing communities and the nation, including the economy, crime, health, opioid epidemic, national security, etc.
